On 7 August 2019 Professor Martin Trybus and Dr Luke Butler participated in an academic focus group for the Cabinet Office on the subject of public procurement legislation after Brexit.

The event was hosted by the Public Procurement Research Group at the University of Nottingham.

The event involved eight invited academic experts on public procurement legislation and a number of officials from the Cabinet Office proposing and talking through their various  ideas for dealing with all aspects of public procurement in the post-Brexit environment. The Cabinet Office's initial consultations will be followed in due course by a general consultation in which all stakeholders will be able to comment on the ideas being proposed.

Apart from Nottingham and Birmingham the focus group included academics from the universities of Sussex, East Anglia, Bangor, and Leicester.
