Outreach for primary schools

For primary schools we offer a variety of talks and workshops as listed below. Please contact Dr M Pavlidou to arrange a visit.

  • Year 6 Ogden Physicist of the Year Award (at the University)
  • Particle Physics Workshop (available at the University and in school premises)
  • Primary Science Fair (at the University)
  • Making Rockets Workshop: students learn the physics of rockets, make rockets and fire them indoors or outdoors for a prize (available at the University and in school premises)
  • Clocks and Gears Workshop: students learn the mathematics of gears and make a pendulum-clock with gears (available at the University and in school premises)
  • Nuclear Physics Workshop: students learn the basics of nuclear fusion and make models of the main elements within their body  (available at the University and in school premises)
  • Electronics Workshop: students make a circuit badge with LEDs and play-doh (available at the University and in school premises) 
  • Hot and Cold talk with Liquid Nitrogen Demonstrations (available at the University and in school premises - charges may apply for the transport of liquid nitrogen to the school premises)
  • Our amazing Universe talk with Interactive Demonstrations (available at the University and in school premises)
