Placed top 50 in the QS 2021 World University Rankings, the University of Birmingham is a centre of excellence for both teaching and research in English Language and Linguistics. We offer expert teaching and research supervision to postgraduates across a wide range of English Language disciplines, both on campus and by distance learning.
The Department is home to a variety of student-run postgraduate groups. We are particularly proud of the role our postgraduates play in adding to the life of the Department; for example our postgraduate researchers often organise and run their own conferences and research forums.
We offer programmes spanning a range of English Language specialisms, and provide opportunities to study both on-campus and by distance learning. Our lively postgraduate community also offers excellent routes into this field through our PhD and MA by Research programmes.
