Offer-Holder Visit Days

Reading through a prospectus is not the same as coming to visit the University in person. ‘Invitation only’ offer-holder visit days are held from October to April when students who have applied to study at Birmingham are invited to a day where you can meet current students, tour our facilities and visit our student accommodation.

Please be aware that some subjects do not hold offer-holder visit days as they conduct interviews instead. If the department you have applied to does offer an offer-holder visit day then you will receive an invitation to a specific date.

This page contains Offer-Holder Visit Day information regarding:

"A university with its own train station deserves five stars! Public transport was the only realistic option for us to get to you on time and getting right to the door was brilliant!"

Travelling to an Offer-Holder Visit Day

We strongly recommend, where possible, for visitors to use public transport to reach the University. Parking on campus is currently very limited due to several major building projects that are taking place as part of our £600 million campus redevelopment. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a parking space on campus.

The easiest way to reach the University is by train. Birmingham is the only University in mainland UK to have its own railway station on campus, known as ‘University’ station. The journey takes approximately 7 minutes from Birmingham New Street and up to six trains an hour depart for the University on the cross-city line (final destination Longbridge or Redditch).  For visitors coming from the south, Longbridge train station has a park and ride service with trains that depart to University regularly with a 12 minute journey time (final destination Lichfield City or Four Oaks). For up to date information on train times and prices, please contact National Rail.

There are a number of NCP car parks across the city centre along with large shopping centre car parks and there is a direct trainline from Birmingham New Street to University Station.

  • NCP New Street, Birmingham, B5 4AN
  • NCP High Street, Birmingham, B4 7LN
  • NCP Grand Central MSCP, Birmingham, B5 4DQ
  • Longbridge, B31 2AJ

If you do need to drive to the University, parking is located at the North East Car Park (B15 2SA) on Pritchatts Road, floors 1-5 only. Please note this car park is used by staff and students and fills up very quickly, therefore the majority of visitors will be unable to find a space. This is a pay and display car park; press the yellow button to reduce the charge to £1 for your visit.

Anyone with a blue badge can park in the disabled parking bays on campus. Please report to the East Gate entrance where a member of the Security team will direct you.

What will happen at my Offer-Holder Visit Day?

Offer-Holder Visit Days are organised by the academic department you have applied to. Once you have applied, they will contact you with details of how to register for the event and send a copy of the programme of activities for the day. Please ensure you attend on the date that you have been invited to, or are registered for, as if you arrive on a different day subject specific information will not be available. Subjects that hold interview days rather than Offer-Holder Visit Days will invite students to these based on the information submitted in their UCAS forms. Successful students will then be made an offer following their interview. Departments will offer various activities at an Offer-Holder Visit Day, but at all events you can expect;

  • A warm welcome from the Admissions Tutor or Senior Academic
  • A chance to meet fellow applicants
