Exterior of The Elms

The Elms Day Nursery is set within a Victorian building, next to University of Birmingham’s Edgbaston campus, and offers a unique mix of large, open learning areas and smaller, cosy rooms.

  • A secure, supportive place to grow

Our experienced team provides a warm and reassuring environment where every child feels safe, valued and able to flourish. We’ll work with you to ensure each child’s individual needs are fully understood and supported. For added reassurance, all staff will be trained in first aid shortly after starting with us, and the nursery benefits from secure fob-only access alongside 24-hour CCTV.

  • Explore the great outdoors

As well as the Forest School, where your child can challenge themselves and learn how to use saws, hand drills and other equipment, The Elms Day Nursery in Edgbaston offers an impressive range of outdoor play environments, including a big grassy space, and three safety-surfaced play areas. Your child will be able to access outdoor areas throughout the day – we wrap up when it’s rainy!

  • Dining with us

Healthy food and drink plays an essential role in your child’s development. That's why, we provide morning and afternoon snacks and drinks, fresh fruit and water, and a nutritious hot lunch.

Our rooms

Owl Room

Babies to 16 months

The baby area is a self-contained peaceful space, for babies aged from six weeks old. There is a fully functioning kitchen and a separate sleeping area with tranquil lighting, giving your little one a soothing place to rest, and a safety surface outdoor play area for fresh air. They will enjoy sensory and messy play, nursery rhymes, sharing books and so much more.

Rabbit Rooms 1 and 2

Under twos

Rabbit Room 1 is a larger playroom with plenty of space for exploration, including free-flow access to a safe outdoor area. Rabbit Room 2 is smaller and cosy, retaining original features of the building. Children move between both spaces, enjoying a range of activities as their confidence grows.

Foxes Room

Twos to threes

At this age, your child will be developing a much greater sense of self-awareness. Our staff plan fun and challenging activities that will encourage their language and communication skills. They are also trained to pay close attention, as your child develops key motor and physical skills.

Badger Room

Twos to threes

Children will enjoy creative and messy play, with a separate area for nappy changes and toilet training nearby. With access to a fantastic outdoor play area, they can play on bikes, dig, splash in puddles, or take time out and observe their friends.

Deer Room

Threes to fives

The pre-school rooms are light, bright, spacious environments where your child can really flourish. They’ll make choices about their own activities and be encouraged to share their own ideas about future plans. The book corner, art area and home corner offer space for quiet focus as well as fun stimulation, all to help your child prepare for their transition to school.
