The Maples Day Nursery in Birmingham welcomes children aged 12 months to four years old, providing a warm and supportive environment that fosters curiosity, imagination and develops children's sense of belonging and independence.

By engaging in non-prescriptive activities, using a range of natural play resources, your child will develop confidence, imagination, communication skills and a genuine joy in learning.

Embracing the great outdoors
During their time with us, in addition to our own play area, children will have regular access to Winterbourne’s seven-acre botanic garden and wilderness Forest School, with an allotment in Winterbourne’s grounds, for them to grow their own vegetables. This is an ideal environment for the curiosity-led approach, filled with green, open spaces, intriguing wild corners, alongside trees and plants from around the world.

Here to make life easy for you
We’re open 51 weeks of the year, excluding public holidays and University closed days. Our opening hours are designed to make life easy for you, fitting childcare around your work and other commitments, which is why we offer both full time and part time spaces.
Monday – Friday 7.30am – 5.45pm

A cosy 9 -12 place baby room where children are cared for in a home from home environment. Your little ones are invited to build strong and meaningful connections with other children and key people, when they begin their journey at The Maples.
The space overlooks Winterbourne Garden and provides an excellent starting point for your child's early years care, with a strong focus on building communication and physical skills. A separate bathroom provides a safe and comfortable changing space for small children where they can begin to wash hands and faces and learn about basic hygiene. Sensory, child led activities help to promote babies learning and are encouraged on a day to day basis.

Twos to threes
A large and airy room that offers children lots of space to move around, develop physical skills and use their imagination. The space has a separate storage area for children's belongings, and your little ones are encouraged to begin learning about getting dressed and undressed to access indoor and outdoor areas. Areas within the room offer space for children to develop their independence and engage with a range of child led activities to fulfil their curiosity.

Threes and fours
A large open plan room where your child will develop friendships and an increasing range of skills to help them get ready for school. The room allows free flow access to the outdoor environment and children are encouraged to dress and undress ready to play outside when they want to. Child led activities take place all around the room where children use their curiosity to explore invitations to play.
