Flexible and practical, the MBA Essentials – Advanced Leadership is designed to fit in with existing career commitments, enabling managers across a range of industries and sectors to boost their career prospects. The module is delivered in an intensive four-day block spread over one long weekend. The programme will equip you to move into more senior management positions, either in your own organisation or moving elsewhere.

In a world of increasing complexity and ambiguity, how you act, behave and communicate defines your success as a leader. Effective leadership requires a wide, interconnected view of your business and the environment in which it operates, as well as clear vision and comprehensive strategies to achieve the organisational goals.

This module covers the main theories of leadership and the debates around leadership styles’ effectiveness, applied in the context of organisations. Discussions will centre around leadership strategies for driving organisational change, as well as learners’ reflections on their strategic challenges and potential ways to overcome them, in the context of theory and current practices.

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Understand the mechanisms which underpin outstanding leader-follower relationships.
  • Understand the nature, operational detail and impact of best practices.
  • understand the impact of leadership purpose and personal values on leadership practice and team-organisational-community outcomes.
  • Critically appraise the key principles of sustainable leadership and enterprise during constant change.
