IVVN Pump-priming grants. Pump-priming grants of up to £100,000 are available to allow IVVN members to accelerate their vaccine research, in order to improve vaccine development for livestock and zoonotic diseases in low-and-middle income countries (LMICs). Pump-priming projects should aim to address a key bottleneck preventing the development of a vaccine, and we particularly welcome applications from members who are Early Career Researchers and/or based in LMICs and/or female researchers and/or based in industry.

MRC Infections and immunity: programme: responsive mode. The infections and immunity board funds research into infectious human disease and disorders of the human immune system. The board supports a diverse portfolio of research of relevance to the UK and globally and to address both long-standing questions and support the investigation of emerging higher-risk opportunities. There is no limit to the funding you can apply for. Applicants typically apply for £1 million or more.

Wellcome Early-Career Awards. This scheme provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline who are ready to develop their research identity. Your research can be in any discipline – including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), experimental medicine, humanities and social science, clinical/allied health sciences, and public health – as long as it has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing, and aligns with Wellcome funding remit.

UKRI-Southeast Asia collaboration on infectious diseases. Apply for funding to collaborate with partners in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore on infectious diseases with antimicrobial resistance and epidemics potential. Research teams must include at least one UK and one Southeast Asia research organisation to apply for this opportunity. As this funding will be provided through the International Science Partnership Fund Official Development Assistance budget, all applications must include at least one researcher based in a low or middle income country (LMIC).

NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships - Round 1. The Global Advanced Fellowship is a mid-career postdoctoral award. The scheme will create a career pathway for Global Health researchers from the UK and low and middle income countries to become research leaders. This £750,000 award will fund research projects, training and development, and institutional capacity strengthening. The programme funds researchers undertaking research that aims to specifically and primarily benefit people in LMICs eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA).
