What is your Academic background and current research field?
I'm a researcher in the School of Computer Science, currently working on the analysis of acoustic musical signals! Essentially, I take chunks of sound and try to work out what notes are being played at a given time. It sounds pretty mundane but it's fascinating that we still haven't cracked this from a computational perspective yet.
Which BEAR Services have been most helpful to you in your research?
Because of the extensive testing that needs to be done with any new approach to these problems, BlueBEAR is essential to ensuring that this can be done speedily!
How widespread do you think BEAR Services are known in your School and how do you plan to spread the word?
Even in the School of Computer Science, a surprising number of people haven't heard of BEAR! I plan to spread the word by talking about it in my research & when giving advice, as well as offering to host BEAR events and spreading leaflets/relevant information.
