BEAR Linux Account

To be able to log on to:

you need to be a member of a BEAR project with access to the relevant service and have an active BEAR Linux account. Once you are a member of a suitable project you should request activation of your BEAR Linux account as follows:

Option 1 - self-service

The fastest way is to use the self-service route at https://bearadmin.bham.ac.uk/identity/activate . To do this you need to be on the campus network or VPN. You will be asked to log in if you are not already logged in to the BEAR Admin site.

Option 2 - service desk

If you cannot do option 1 above, then follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the following link to create a ServiceDesk ticket to us Other BEAR Request, (log-in if required)
  2. Under Subject please add "Request activation of BEAR Linux Account"
  3. Under Request Details, please add "Please activate my Linux account"
  4. Click on "Submit"

Option 3 - general ticket

If you have problems using the options above then please visit the IT Service Desk and "report a fault" asking for your BEAR Linux account to be activated.

Leavers

Please note that your BEAR Linux home directory will be permanently deleted after you have left the University.
