Bioprocessing and Bioengineering

Living cells and biological products can perform many functions that can be harnessed. We are working on microbial and mammalian cell culture bioprocessing, to improve both upstream and downstream (purification) processes in the food and biopharmaceutical sectors. Our research spans fundamental science of model organisms to bioengineering and sustainability in the biotechnological industry, using a range of experimental technologies and computational modelling methods.

Our areas of expertise
• Biomanufacturing, continuous bioprocessing
• Process chromatography, magnetic separation technology
• Sustainable food systems
• Computational modelling and simulation
