Pathways through transition - life after compulsory education for young people with vision impairment
On 1 July 2015 Dr Graeme Douglas and Rachel Hewett from the Visual Impairment Centre for Teaching and Research along with Rory Cobb and Sue Keil from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) jointly ran a conference to share the findings of ongoing research on the post-16 transition experience of young people with vision impairment.
The “Pathways through transition: life after compulsory education for young people with vision impairment” conference was attended by 112 delegates, from a range of professions including qualified teachers of the visually impaired, disability support officers and members of the voluntary sector. Invited speakers represented a number of organisations, including: Council for Disabled Children; Brent Sensory Support Service; Guide Dogs; Estyn (HM Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales); Visualise Training and Consultancy; Thomas Pocklington Trust and Imogen Blood & Associates.
