Fund your future in marketing

The world of work is changing and the skills needed to succeed are changing too. That's why the University of Birmingham created the Future Skills Scholarship: to support ambitious students from India who are ready to build the strategic, digital and analytical capabilities that global employers are competing for.

What is the India Future Skills Scholarship?

The India Future Skills Scholarship is a £12,500 award for students domiciled in India who are ready to develop the marketing and strategic skills that drive growth for the world's leading organisations.

The scholarship is automatically applied against your tuition fees. There's no separate application to complete. Once you hold an unconditional offer for MSc Marketing and meet the eligibility criteria, the award is yours.

You can view the full eligibility criteria on The India Future Skills Scholarship webpage.

Is marketing the right career for me?

Behind every product you've bought, every campaign that made you stop scrolling, every brand you feel loyal to, there's a marketer who made that happen. Marketing is the discipline that connects what organisations offer with what people actually want. Done well, it shapes behaviour, builds businesses and moves culture.

Marketing is analytical, creative and strategic all at once. And organisations in every sector are competing for people who can do it well.

If you want a career where strategic thinking, commercial instinct and understanding people all matter in equal measure, marketing is where those things come together.

Is marketing really a 'future-proof' career?

Automation is reshaping many careers. Marketing isn't one of them.

Understanding people, building trust, crafting strategy and driving growth are deeply human skills that technology can support but not replace. As businesses invest more heavily in data, digital and customer experience, the demand for skilled marketers is growing, not shrinking.

Marketing is one of the few disciplines where creative thinking and analytical rigour are equally valued. That combination is exactly what the future of work rewards.

Why study marketing at Birmingham?

Ranked #48 in the world for a marketing masters by QS, the University of Birmingham is consistently ranked as one of the most targeted UK universities by top graduate employers. That reputation matters when you're competing for roles after graduation.

Birmingham Business School is one of fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide to hold triple accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS, the global gold standard in business education. Our MSc Marketing is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, giving your degree professional recognition that employers respect.

But accreditation is just the starting point.

The programme itself is built around the way marketing actually works in business today. You'll study strategy, consumer behaviour and market research as your foundation, then specialise in the area that fits your ambitions - Digital Marketing, International Marketing or Responsible Marketing. A block teaching approach means you study each subject with real depth and focus, rather than juggling multiple modules at once. And an optional industry consultancy project gives you the chance to work on a real business challenge before you graduate.

Birmingham is also a Russell Group university located in the UK's second city, just 90 minutes from London, with a lower cost of living and a thriving business community on its doorstep. For international students building a career network in the UK, that combination is hard to match.

Built in Birmingham. Forged for the future.
