Engineering Enhancement Scholarship

The School of Engineering is happy to be able to recognise and reward our top incoming UK undergraduate students to celebrate your academic achievements before arriving as a student at the University of Birmingham. In addition to initial scholarships, you may also be eligible to apply to other prizes and bursaries during your time at university to celebrate your continued academic success. 

The Engineering Enhancement Scholarship consists of a £3,000 cash payment during semester one in year one for UK students who meet the criteria below.

This award cannot be held in conjunction with the Engineering First Class Scholarships award.

Who can apply?

Undergraduate students who are eligible for Home fees and are commencing their studies on one of the listed Engineering degrees in September 2025 are eligible for the scholarship. No application is required as all those who meet the below conditions will be contacted during semester one in 2025.

To be eligible for this award you must:

• Be classified as UK for fees on your acceptance to the university.
• Have a POLAR4 score of 1
• Apply to the University by 6pm on 30th June as one of your original five choices. Then be accepted to one of the following courses for year 1 entry in 2025 after placing it as firm choice in UCAS:

  • Civil Engineering MEng
  • Civil Engineering with Industrial Experience MEng
  • Civil Engineering with Industrial Year MEng
  • Civil Engineering with International Study MEng
  • Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng

  • Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Industrial Year BEng
  • Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Industrial Year MEng

  • Engineering MEng
  • Mechatronic and Robotic Engineering BEng
  • Mechatronic and Robotic Engineering MEng
  • Mechanical Engineering BEng
