Events and engagement opportunities

2 female pupils walking outside the library on campus

Events are a fantastic opportunity for students across all age groups to interact with various aspects of the university. We run many initiatives and event series including mentoring and masterclasses, to give students a flavour of university life and study.

Masterclasses

Every year, we run a series of masterclasses for students in Years 8 to 13 to offer real insights into university study, particular topics, and subjects, and stimulate curiosity and engagement

Event themes can cover:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Life, Environmental and Social Sciences
  • Medical and Dental Sciences
  • Science and Technology

Raising Aspirations in Secondary Education (RAISE)

The RAISE programme is a range of fun, interactive lectures, workshops, and competitive quizzes for students in Years 7 to 11. They are designed to motivate and inspire students around particular subjects, and in the long term raise achievement at GCSE.

Year 12 Discovery Day

This on-campus event gives students the chance to explore university study, experience campus life and take part in two subject taster sessions linked to their degree and A Level interests. The day helps students consider their options, learn what it’s like to study at a research‑intensive university and start planning their next steps after sixth form.
