Lead Supervisor

Dr Ainara Aguadero

George Wilson joined the CDT programme in September 2017 based in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London. He had previously graduated from the same department with a first-class MEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering.

Under the supervision of Dr. Ainara Aguadero, his current research focusses on the investigation of new materials for thermochemical water splitting with the aim of producing hydrogen for fuel cells and other technologies.

He is funded through the EPSRC CDT  in Fuel Cells and their fuels: EP/L015749/1.

Qualifications

Materials Science and Engineering MEng, Imperial College London, 2017.

Biography

George graduated from his MEng degree in 2017. During his course, he completed three summer internships at Ricardo plc. working on FEA centred internal research projects in their engine analysis department. George completed his masters’ project researching perovskites for thermochemical water splitting.

Research

George’s research investigates new materials for thermochemical water splitting with the aim of reducing the process temperatures for improved system efficiencies. He will be trying to synthesise new materials and understand their properties through various characterisation techniques.

Other activities

In his spare time, George enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, Tennis and watching films.
