Research summary

Recep Akdeniz joined the Centre for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research in October 2019 as part of the CDT. Prior to this, he graduated from the Gebze Technical University in June 2016 with his master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineeringand worked at Gebze Technical University between 2015 and 2019 years.

The aim of his current research is the Production and Characterization of micro-tubular Solid Oxide Cells.

Qualifications

BEng. in Material Science and Engineering, Gebze Technical University

MEng. Material Science and Engineering, Gebze Technical University

Biography

After graduating in 2013 from The Gebze Technical University, Recep spent two years in his own university as a project assistant and his master degree. He then decided to work as a research assistant between 2015 and 2019. After that, he applied for doctoral research in micro-Tubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cells at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Fuel Cells with Professor Robert Steinberger-Wilckens.

Research

Recep’s research aims to investigate the Production and Characterization of micro-tubular Solid Oxide Cells. It is aimed to investigate the effect of cell production on the performance of the cell as well as the mechanical properties of the cell production with different production methods and to produce high-performance cells working with biogas. Novel cell designs and new electrolyte materials will be explored for the purpose of enhancing production methods in literature and cell performance.

Other activities

Erasmus internship (University of Birmingham) in 2017.
Recep is also interested in traveling, get in touch with new cultures, swimming and basketball as well as other sports activities, and cooking.
