Guanyi’s research interests lie at the intersection of international business, management, and organisational networks. Her research examines how EM MNEs leverage inter-organisational networks to overcome latecomer disadvantages and location constraints in international expansion. Her work contributes to ongoing debates on emerging market firms, capability development, and the role of networks in internationalisation.

Biography

Guanyi is a PhD researcher in Strategy and International Business, whose work examines how emerging market multinational enterprises (EM MNEs) leverage networks to overcome latecomer disadvantages and build dynamic capabilities during internationalisation. Her research has been published in leading journals, such as Management International Review. 

Alongside her doctoral research, Guanyi is actively involved in teaching management and international business courses. She regularly presents her research at major international conferences, including the Academy of Management (AOM), the Academy of International Business (AIB), AIB UK & Ireland chapter, the European International Business Academy (EIBA), and the Consortium for International Marketing Research (CIMaR). 

Guanyi was awarded the Neil Hood and Stephen Young Prize for the Most Original Doctoral Work at the AIB UKI Conference in 2024. She is also a member of the AIB-CIBER Doctoral Academy, Cohort 3. In addition, she has served as a visiting researcher at Central University of Finance and Economics (Beijing) and the University of Pavia.
