Dr Mingxue (Jean) Du
Research Software Engineer
Mingxue, also known as Jean, completed a PhD at the University of Sheffield where she worked on TopoStats, a Python package that automatically processes and analyses atomic force microscopy (AFM) images. She developed new functionalities for TopoStats to measure different physical properties of single DNA molecules such as curvature and bending angle, and these functionalities were applied in her research to investigate changes to DNA conformation as a result of protein interaction. In addition, she participated in the refactoring of the software to render it more accessible, robust, and user-friendly, aligning it with the FAIR4RS principles. She joined the Research Software Group as a Research Software Engineer in April 2025.
